The Redmi Note family is Xiaomi's largest. The Redmi Note 10 5G, among all these proposals, comes to be the brother with greater connectivity at a lower price. Along with the new Redmi Note 10S, the Note 10 5G is one of the latest additions to the family, with competitive specifications below 200 euros.
We have thoroughly analyzed the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G, with the aim of knowing what space it occupies both in the Redmi Note catalog and in its segment. Is it possible to shine in the 5G mid-range for less than 200 euros? Let's try to check it out.

A design that already sounds familiar and a screen that convinces

At the design level, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G follows the same lines of its brothers. The camera module is the main protagonist, protruding quite a bit from the body and collecting a lot of dirt (even if we clean it, it almost instantly catches dust again). The body of the device is built in plastic, Xiaomi achieving a finish that is not matte, but that repels fingerprints and dirt relatively well.

This Redmi Note 10 5G is quite ergonomic, thanks both to the curvature of its back and to the fact that, in terms of dimensions, it is not one of the largest and heaviest in its segment. On the front we have well-used framesExcept for the lower chin, which is quite prominent.

The keypad is well built and the side fingerprint reader is perfectly integrated into the side, looking like one more button. There ain't no slack or dance on the buttons giving a pretty solid and robust feel.

Regarding the screen, we have 6.5 inches with Full HD + resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and IPS technology. We liked that, despite being a very economical mobile, it reaches 500 nits of brightness, something that allows although there is full solar incidence, let's see the screen well. The color representation can be improved (although we can calibrate slightly from settings) and the correct viewing angles.

It will not be one of the leading screens in its price range, but having 90Hz and a good level of brightness is a very good point. The hole in the screen is quite large, slightly distracting when we are watching multimedia content. Despite this, the experience with the panel is correct considering the price range in which the terminal is framed.

To finish with the multimedia section we will talk about audio. This is one of the weakest points of the Redmi Note 10 5G, that does not stand out mainly for the audio. The sound is canned in almost all volume ranges, the bass has hardly any presence, and the overall quality is fair. The good news is that we have a headphone jack to enjoy wired audio.

MediaTek processor and great battery

Internally, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G has 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB UFS 2.2 of internal memory in the case of our unit (part of 64 GB) and a Dimensity 700U from MediaTek. The performance is more than correct for day-to-day tasks such as WhatsApp, browsing in social networks and some not very heavy game. If we demand it, it is not difficult to make the lag appear, and it is that MIUI has it easy to fill the scarce RAM memory of the phone.
The Redmi Note 10 5G can move heavy games with ease, as long as we configure the graphics modestly
Despite this, the user experience is correct, and we can even play installments like Genshin Impact or PUBG Mobile with the settings in medium-low without too much problem. We miss a couple of gigs of extra RAMas the phone is prone to closing apps like the camera, some games, or even Chrome, although the overall experience is satisfactory. We leave you with the performance tests of this Redmi Note 10 5G.

As for the software, we have MIUI 12 and Android 11, waiting for MIUI 12.5 to land on this terminal. As usual in MIUI, we have a good dose of bloatware and advertising, almost all of this avoidable if we make the correct settings.

We would like the ROM to come cleaner from the factory, something that is already achieved with MIUI 12.5. The positive news is that it is a very customizable layer, with useful apps such as Notes, Xiaomi's own browser, Game Turbo or a good theme engine to personalize the phone to the maximum.

At battery level we managed to exceed eight hours of screen without minor problem, all this with intensive use and the active 90Hz. This puts us at a day and a half and even two days of use, a good figure thanks in part to the 5,000mAh battery. To charge it we have a fast charge of 18W, so it will take about two hours to have it fully charged.

Three cameras on the back, although only one stands out

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G repeats the strategy of terminals like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T: a 48 megapixel camera accompanied by two two megapixel sensors (macro and depth) that do not invite us too much to use them. Before we talk about the results, let's take a look at the camera app to see what it offers.

Xiaomi's camera app is quite complete, although it still does not work smoothly. There are some hitches when switching between modes, and we have even suffered some occasional freezes. However, we have practically everything that can be asked of a camera application. Integration with Google Lens, portrait, time-lapse, night mode, deactivatable auto HDR, filters, AI mode, etc. A very complete app to which we ask a little extra in fluency.
Photography with the main camera

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G fails to stand out in good light. In general, a better work of the HDR is needed, which could rescue an extra information in shadows and control the highlights a little better. There is not too much sharpness either, since neither the sensor nor the processing help to obtain it.

We recommend activating the automatic HDR always, since it acts when it should and will save us from the occasional burn. It is not perfect, as we have anticipated, but we will obtain better results with it.

When night falls, the results fall. As we usually see in Xiaomi, it will be necessary to activate the night mode to gain in detail, since without it the photograph is not very sharp. The night mode is not too artificial, but it allows to obtain an extra luminosity and clarity.

The portrait mode is well resolved, with the help of a two megapixel sensor. The bokeh is somewhat artificial, but the Xiaomi trim level is quite controlled. Another point in favor is that we do not have distance problems (that the mobile asks us to move away or get closer), since it usually detects the subject we are near or far from him.

The selfie surprises for the better. As usual in Xiaomi, wash your face more than expected, stealing a little detail from us. However, we liked the result at the level of white balance and color, since it is quite accurate. Here the HDR works quite well correcting burns, so we also recommend leaving it active or in the automatic setting.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G, the opinion of Xataka Android

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G, despite its name, is the main successor to the Redmi Note 9T (although, curiously, it has a worse processor). It comes to be the cheapest 5G alternative for your family, giving up power and camera to adjust its price. If we are looking for a cheap, solvent mobile, with good battery and great connectivity, it is an option to consider.
