After years of experimenting with the option to hide the 'likes' or 'I like' of the publications, on Instagram they have finally pressed the button and have turned it into an option available now for all users of the world.
Now, unlike the original experiment that completely hid the likes, this version of the idea that we have received, just hide the number, that is, both the user who makes the publication and those who follow him, will be able to continue seeing the other accounts that have pressed that 'like' button.
How to hide the number of 'likes' of your Instagram posts
The function is simple, though there is no option to hide all the likes of all your photos automatically, you will have to do it one by one and decide in which ones you do not want the number to appear.
To do this, you just have to go to a publication from the Instagram app and press the settings button (the three horizontal dots) to bring up the new option:
If you select "Hide Like Count", the number of likes will disappear from your publication, but you can continue to see the number if you click on the names of the people who have 'liked'. Your followers, on the other hand, will only be able to see the list of users, but not the number, and instead they will see a message stating that only the author can see the number of likes.

Hide the likes of others
In addition to being able to hide the likes of your publications, now Instagram also offers the possibility of hiding the counts of 'likes' and the number of reproductions of the videos in all Instagram. That is, so that you do not see the figures of others.
For this you have to go to the Setting Instagram from the menu (the three horizontal lines on your profile page) and select the settings Privacy. Once there, you must choose the option Publications.
The first setting that will appear in that section is "likes and views" which for some reason is not yet translated. Activating the switch you will hide the total number of likes and views on posts from other accounts.
On Instagram they say that during the testing phase, the opinions they collected from their community stated that hiding the number of likes was useful and helped reduce social pressure and comparisons, while others believed that they preferred to see what was trending or popular in the platform. So they have decided to strike a balance between the two with this implementation of the function.
