We are going to tell you some of the best tricks to get the most out of Realme UI 2.0 Based on Android 11, the most recent version of the Realme customization layer, already present in terminals such as the Realme 8 5G or the Realme 8 Pro.
It is a very customizable ROM with more than interesting settings, so we are going to tell you from the most basic to the most advanced, so you can get the most out of it.
Activate dark mode
One of the basics to save battery on any phone is activate dark mode. How could it be otherwise, Realme UI 2.0 incorporates a completely black dark mode that will save a lot of energy in OLED panels. To activate this mode we just have to go to 'screen and brightness', selecting the dark mode later.
Dark mode in Realme UI 2.0 can be programmed. We can adjust the hours manually or we can have the dark mode activated automatically at sunset. If we activate this option, the mobile will be based on the time of the phone to activate or deactivate the dark mode.
Activate gesture control
Another essential in Realme UI 2.0 is the gesture control. The quickest way to find them is to type 'gestures' in the search bar and click on 'Swipe gestures from both sides'.
Realme UI 2.0 respect Android 11 gestures, so we have the classic controls to go back, invoke multitasking or return to the launcher. In addition, we have options to prevent unintentional touches, a plus.
Create your own custom theme
At the level of customization, Realme UI is one of the most complete ROMs. From Settings, 'customizations' we can configure practically the entire interface in detail, finding these sections to modify to taste.
- Icon Styles
- App layout (launcher layout)
- Accent colors
- Font size and display
- Notification panel
If we want to leave the mobile to taste, we can individually customize each section, even if we have applied a theme on top.
Manage the speed of animations
From the development options it has always been possible to modify the speed of the animations, but Realme UI incorporates this adjustment in its own menu, without having to activate these options. We just have to go to settings, 'home screen and lock screen' and click on 'speed of animations for starting and closing applications'.
We can choose between fast, medium and slow, to adjust the speed of the animations when opening and closing apps to our liking. We can also change this setting in the developer options, but it is curious that the Realme ROM incorporates it in the settings themselves.
Lock apps with password
If we want to block applications with a password so that nobody can access them without knowing the credential, we can activate it easily from the phone settings. You just have to go to the 'privacy' section and click on 'application block'. It will ask us to set a privacy password, different from the PIN or password that the phone already has. Once established, we can block the applications individually.
The same applies to hiding applications, instead of blocking them. From this privacy section we can hide the applications we want. They will remain installed on the phone, but will not be accessible to prying eyes. Apart from the code that we already entered, it will be necessary to establish another access code to access the hidden applications, so we have a double layer of security.
Create a space for children
If we have little ones at home, we can create a children's space for them to use the telephone. Here we can configure the maximum duration of the session, the applications allowed and even deactivate the mobile network so that they can only use the phone offline. What's more, this mode does not allow modification of system settings, nor does it allow the automatic sending of SMS by the apps to avoid charges without our permission.
Activate two-wheel mode
One of the most curious modes of Realme UI 2.0 is the two-wheel mode, designed for what we are bikers (or if you want to go by bike). We find this setting within the 'smart services' section in the settings. We have to activate it manually and, while it is active, do not disturb mode will be activated, voice and video calls will be blocked and we will only receive notifications of incoming calls from contacts that we have configured. It is basically a do not disturb mode although configurable in other points.
Activate smart driving mode
Something similar happens with the smart driving mode, which is activated from the same 'smart services' menu. Notifications and alerts are also blocked here to reduce distractions. Besides, as it is oriented to be used in the car, We can activate it automatically when the mobile is connected to the car via Bluetooth.
Adjust the consumption in idle
At the level of energy consumption, Realme UI 2.0 has some more than interesting settings. If we go to the phone settings, click on 'more battery settings' and we go to 'optimized standby', we will see three modes:
- Ultra standby mode: close apps in the background to save battery life. When night falls it is even more aggressive if the phone is idle for a while.
- Balanced mode: reduces the notifications we receive when we are sleeping
This way try to reduce consumption at rest as much as possible, although we can suffer delays in notifications when activating it, since it will freeze those applications that consume the most battery (and the messaging ones are usually on this list).
Learn about battery performance modes
Within this section of 'more battery settings' we also have different performance modes. By default comes the smart performance mode, which promises to improve battery performance based on usage, cutting background processes as deemed appropriate. We can deactivate this performance mode or bet on the high performance mode, in which the phone will make the most of its resources, to prioritize performance over battery.
Freeze apps that drain a lot of battery
Another solution to save energy within this settings menu is the 'quick freeze applications'. This function allows automatically freeze inactive apps. That is, if we are a long time without using an app, it will freeze it. We will not receive notifications or notices, since it will completely cut the background of the app. It will be enough to open it again to be able to use it normally.
Clean space quickly
Within the settings, in the 'storage' section, we have a small 'delete' button. This will open us a menu in which we will see how much space the files are occupying, from multimedia to downloaded files or application cache.
