Electronic Certificate or DNI

If you already have an electronic certificate or DNI, this will probably be the most comfortable method when accessing the process. Last year, the Tax Agency itself already warned on its website that, during the days prior to the start of the campaign, certain threats had appeared that could endanger taxpayers through attacks on phishing or identity theft. To stay safe it is recommended to keep in mind the following:

  • The Tax Agency never requests confidential, financial or personal information, or account numbers, or taxpayer card numbers by email.
  • It is advisable to distrust any communication that includes the request for confidential, financial or personal information or includes any link that does not refer to its website or its electronic headquarters.

  4. Now, you will see a screen with different options, including the Processing of the draft / declaration. Click on this option, and you can proceed to process your return.

In the declaration, all the information that Hacienda knows about you will appear already covered, but be careful, because they don't have to be the right ones, or all the necessary ones. At this point, two situations can occur:

  1. The draft is correct: You have verified that all the data is correct and that you should not cover anything else. Therefore, you can file the return in 1 click. This option is limited to all those who do not need to make any changes to the data.
  2. Data is missing or incorrect: You will have to manually modify the draft of the declaration, either to change an incorrect information or to fill in a new one, and therefore it will not be possible to carry out the process in 1 click. In this case, you will have to select the option to "modify the return" within the section "Income 2020". The app will direct us to the Renta WEB program, where it will be necessary to correct all the data that requires it.

Whatever our specific case, once the draft is finished, with all the correct data - remember that it is the taxpayer's responsibility to correct the erroneous information -, you will have to click on "Submit Statement" within the section "Income 2020". If everything has turned out as it should, a warning will appear like the one in the image below, offered by the Tax Agency, which shows the secure verification code –CSV– with which the validity of the declaration is certified.

There is some confusion in this regard, but the easiest thing is to remember that, if the result of the statement is negativeIt will be the Agency who will pay the money to the bank account that you have entered in the return.

Instead, if the figure that appears in the result is positive, you will have to pay, Although perhaps this is a good time to review the exceptions mentioned in one of the previous sections, since you may not be required to file the return.
