First fine for Apple for not including the charger with the iPhone 12

Apple is fined nearly $ 2 million for not including the charger in the iPhone 12 box.

When the iPhone 12s were released, the Cupertino-based company announced that these they would come without a charger, since it was a way of not generating more technological waste because the vast majority of users already had several charging adapters at home and what if it was included was the charging cable.

This decision was highly criticized by some users who they considered it an abuse, and now the authorities agree with them because we just learned that Apple will receive a large fine for not including the charger in the case of your iPhone.

Apple's decision not to include a charger in the iPhone 12 has its first consequences

As we can read in Engadget, the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo has imposed a fine on Apple through the state consumer protection agency for not including the charger in the boxes of its most recent terminals.

According to the Brazilian authorities, this decision of the American giant, which was later seconded by the Korean firm Samsung in its Galaxy S21, represents a "Violation of the consumer defense code" in their country and for this reason, they sanction Apple with an amount of $ 1.9 million.

But this large fine is not only due to the fact that they do not include chargers in their boxes, but it is also applied for misleading advertising, due to the fact that the iPhone 12 is advertised as having water resistance, but many users who had problems with their terminals after they came into contact with water did not receive adequate support from Apple, which refused to repair them, claiming that such resistance is not a permanent condition of the device and it could decrease over time.

Be that as it may, this decision of the Brazilian authorities lays the foundations for the American giant to suffer future fines, even higher, in other parts of the world, although, for the moment, neither the European nor the Spanish authorities have ruled on the matter.
