Design and display: curves vs straight lines

Choosing between the iPhone 12 and the Xiaomi Mi 11 based on their design will be easy ... as long as your tastes and preferences are clear. If you are more of curves, the Mi 11 has prepared for you a large screen with curves on all four sides, with a small hole that houses the front camera.

The curves also extend to the rear, where we find a glass or faux leather panel –Depending on the variant chosen– that covers part of the sides of the device until it meets the aluminum chassis.

At iPhone 12, the thing changes. Although we are talking about a mobile built in aluminum and Gorilla Glass Victus glass in the same way as the Xiaomi Mi 11, in this case Apple has decided recover straight edges and the sharp corners that were so fashionable in the days of the iPhone 5.

There is also a big difference in size. Although neither of the two is a compact device, in the case of the Xiaomi Mi 11 we are talking about a terminal with an impressive 6.8-inch screen, a diagonal much higher than the 6.1 inches of the iPhone 12.

Regarding display technology, in both cases we have an AMOLED panel, although the Xiaomi model wins the game in terms of resolution –WQHD + versus Full HD + -, as well as regarding the refresh rate, 120 hertz on the Chinese phone.

To conclude, it should be mentioned that iPhone 12 is IP68 certified that ensures resistance to water and dust, a feature that the Mi 11 lacks.

Cameras: bet on versatility

The differences between the cameras of the Mi 11 and the iPhone 12 are clear. The model of Chinese origin has a system consisting of three sensors on the back, one of them high resolution with 108 megapixels, and another ultra wide angle of 13 megapixels. The third is what Xiaomi refers to as “telemacro”, with 5 megapixels of resolution and an equivalent focal length of 50 millimeters.

The Apple model, on the other hand, integrates a double 12 megapixel camera on the back. One sensor acts as the main camera, and the other opts to offer a greater field of view thanks to an ultra-wide angle lens.

Processor and memory: Apple vs. Qualcomm

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 vs Apple A14. When talking about processors, we cannot but grant the throne to Apple once again being able to squeeze the maximum SoC of their latest phones to offer the best performance we've ever seen in a smartphone.

That does not mean that Snapdragon 888 from Mi 11 not an excellent processor, capable of coping with the heaviest tasks without any problems. In addition, the fact of having a neural unit integrated into the chip, ensures that the tasks that require a high computational load they will be performed much faster than previous generations of this series.

Where the Xiaomi gains prominence is when talking about the memory settingsWell, the Chinese terminal doubles the available RAM on the iPhone by offering 8 GB in all its variants, with 128 or 256 GB of storage. The iPhone also adds an extra version with 512 GB of internal storage.

Other features

There are other differences to keep in mind between the Xiaomi Mi 11 and the iPhone 12.

One of them is related to the method to unlock the mobile through biometrics. And it is that Apple continues to bet on Face ID, its facial recognition system, at a time when we all wear masks and, unless you wear an Apple Watch and have iOS 14.5, it will not be possible to unlock the mobile with your face without taking it off.

On the Xiaomi Mi 11, on the other hand, we have a in-display fingerprint reader, much more convenient in these times. Said sensor also acts as a heart rate reader.

Besides that, it should be mentioned that iPhone 12 has a Lightning connector, while Xiaomi offers a more standardized alternative such as the USB Type C.

And we cannot forget, of course, that each of the terminals is based on a different platform. Android in the Mi 11, and iOS in the iPhone 12. Therefore, the choice between one or the other is reduced to the personal preferences of each person when choosing their preferred mobile operating system.
