OnePlus updates its calendar of updates to Android 11, OnePlus 6 and 6T included

The last time OnePlus commented on its plans to upgrade to Android 11 was in October. With the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro in public beta, the next in line would be the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T and 7T Pro, with an update planned for the end of the year and, the rest, for later. This update has not arrived, so OnePlus has updated its plans.

In a post on their forums, OnePlus comments on the status of updates to Android 11, the reason why Android 11 has not yet reached the OnePlus 7 and 7T as promised and, perhaps most surprisingly, the possibility that the update also reaches the OnePlus 6.

Android 11 on OnePlus

2020 is over and the update to Android 11 was not released for any OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7T, so the company has seen fit to comment the reason for the delay and, incidentally, update the status of the updates for the rest of the terminals that are pending.

OnePlus Nord, analysis: OnePlus returns to the race for value for money through the front door

Starting in descending order, the OnePlus 8T launched directly with OxygenOS 11, while the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro were among the first to have an Android 11 beta. OxygenOS 11 should have reached the OnePlus 7 before 2021, but finally it has not been like that.

As reported by OnePlus, a problem with the encryption of the mobile was found in the update to Android 11 of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T, so they have been working with Qualcomm to solve it. This update is currently progressing as a closed beta, which they plan to become open beta as soon as closed beta ends, although without a specific or approximate date.

Meanwhile, The OnePlus Nord will receive the update to Android 11 with OxygenOS 11 sometime next week. This update will arrive in the form of an open beta, as in the rest of the models.

Nordo Android 11 is coming to the OnePlus Nord next week

The surprise is the OnePlus 6 and 6T, which were launched in 2018 with Android Oreo (in the case of the OnePlus 6) and, therefore, the update to Android 11 will be its third major update after receiving Oreo and Pie. There is no date, and this update is included in the same bag as the Nord 10 5G / 100, of which we will know more details "later".
