The news of OxygenOS for the OnePlus 7 and 7T

For a few weeks we knew that the arrival of Android 11 to the OnePlus models of the year 2019 it would take a long time to arrive, and that it would not be ready by the end of 2020 as expected.

In any case, the company had already confirmed that OxygenOS 11 would land on its OnePlus 7 and 7T series models sooner rather than later, starting with a beta program publicly enabled.

Now, this program is already available, and all owners of one of the four models of these families can install Android 11 on your devices without waiting for OnePlus to release the stable and final update. In the announcement, the company has published the official changelist that comes with this update:

  • System
    • Update to Android 11 version
    • New user interface that offers a more pleasant experience with optimizations of various details.
    • Optimized the stabilization of some third-party applications and improved the user experience.
  • Ambient Display
    • New “Insight” clock style, which changes based on device usage data.
    • Added the "Canvas" function that allows to automatically generate a sketch based on the lock screen image.
    • 10 new watch styles
  • Dark mode
    • Added a shortcut to activate dark mode.
    • Support to activate the dark theme automatically and customize the time range.
  • Shelf
    • Revamped user interface.
    • Added weather widget and animations improvements.
  • Gallery
    • Support for Stories function, with images and videos selected weekly.
    • Gallery loading time and image previews optimized.

But the update doesn't just include changes and improvements. OnePlus claims to be aware of some bugs and problems present in this first installment of OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 7 and 7T, which affect sections such as Bluetooth, gallery or energy consumption. For this reason, it is possible that some owners of the devices prefer to wait for a next version before proceeding to install OxygenOS 11 Beta on their terminals.

The update comes just a few weeks after OnePlus enabled the OxygenOS 11 beta program for the OnePlus Nord, so that today, the only terminals of the firm that do not have a version of Android 11 available are the OnePlus Nord N10 and N100, and the OnePlus 6 and 6T.
