Windows 10 21H1 will be the next version of the system and will arrive with improvements in the performance and security of web connections

The Windows 10 First Major Update for 2021 it is one that will surely arrive in the spring, and probably in May, if the calendar that Microsoft has followed thus far holds.

But, as usual, the company has not really announced a name or date, and yet they have confirmed that its name is Windows 10 21H1 at the moment in one of its support websites where they explain the Arrival of TLS 1.3 Support Through the System.

The new version of one of the most important security protocols for the web

The TLS protocol or Tansport Layer Security, is the cryptographic protocol we mostly use when browsing the Internet. Basically it is the layer of security that operating systems, applications and browsers use when we do things like send an email, make purchases online or send information from our credit cards.

TLS 1.0 / 1.1 was out of support in June 2018, after almost 20 years, and even then it was widely used despite the fact that since 2008 it has been recommended to move to version 1.2.

What is TLS 1.3 and why have Firefox and Chrome been in such a rush to integrate it

The most recent version of the protocol is TLS 1.3, but despite taking a couple of years since it was presented as a new official standard, one that is more secure, faster and more private than TLS 1.2, it was not yet officially supported by Windows 10.

With version 20H1 this will change, and finally TLS 1.3 on both client and server side will be supported by the system. This is something that It should make all web connections made from Windows 10 more private, faster, and more secure.

If everything continues as before, in May 2021 we should start receiving a new Windows 10 update. One that is probably smaller than usual and that will be activated through an enabler package as it happened with the Windows 10 October 2020 Update or Windows 10 20H2.
