For Microsoft this version 5 is a transition step between 4.x and the plans they have for 6.0, which go through deliver a unified user experience, in which it does not have to be downloading individual components but can choose in bulk which ones it needs.

Other new features of the new version are the inclusion of version 9 C # and version 5 of F #, as well as performance improvements of the libraries, especially in ARM architecture and in fields such as the use of regular expressions, Json serialization and HTTP connections, as well as the inclusion of support for the distribution of software contained in a single executable.
